FOUNDATIONS: How to Sell On Pinterest With Shopify?

To Make money with Pinterest and Shopify needs to be Part of having a business profile and setting up your account properly. You need to search your website, enter Conversion Tag (another name for your tracking pixel), and set Rich pins.

You should know your keywords/keyword phrases on Pinterest. This is the most important aspect of your Pinterest strategy (the second most important is consistency – much of what is below). Keywords require your profile name, in the section about us, board titles, board descriptions, and pin descriptions. I keep Google Sheet accessible to me with keywords so I can target it.

You need good product recognition photos. Setting up a few templates for your PIN at Canva or Photoshop will not only save you tons of time, but you will also get that product recognition when Pinterest users scroll through their feeds. Use your product colors/fonts, beautiful images, and watermark/logo with your website URL in each image.

To Make money with Pinterest and Shopify You have to pinch consistently. This is the name of the game when it comes to Pinterest strategy. Tailwind is my preferred editing tool when it comes to my consistent editing with my clients. I could not run my business without it. You can sign up for free using my membership link right here. The best practice is to pinch a combination of your pins and pegs back to quality content, and I like to use their smart Schedule to pin 10x a day.

WHAT ARE PRODUCTS PINS To Make Money On Pinterest?

Pinterest changed gears with e-commerce and launched a feature called Buy The Look for all business profiles. Learn more about Shop The Look and how to use it here. This is a must to Make money with Pinterest and Shopify.

The good thing is, now this great feature is available to all users, not just Shopify users.

There are a few key points to make sure your products are well set up on Pinterest.

  • Make sure your products meet Pinterest requirements.
  • Review how you can adjust your Shopify settings if you used to use the Pinterest marketing channel.
  • Make sure you have Rich Pins enabled – Product anchors fall under the Rich pins.

Here is an example of how I put pins on Pinterest:

Create a 1000px x 1500px straight PIN image showing the lifestyle of the product in use.

Create a PIN inside Pinterest using the “+” button: upload an image and link it to a specific product, which does not separate from the Shopify store. Write a rich keyword description, including 3-5 hashtags. (You can also use PinIt! Chrome extension to create a PIN directly on your website.)

Pin the PIN on the title board near you. Example: When you sell a jersey, where is your jersey board, not your regular online store board. The reason for this is when this original PIN is re-pinned by you and others, it will also take the meaning of the board and keywords.

Go to the first PIN you recently made and click the Tailwind plan button. From here you can edit the PIN on your Smart Schedule to be reprinted on your other boards, board boards, and in Tailwind Tribes.

Voila! You’re done with the nail polish remover to get them out there on Pinterest.

After a few weeks, you should have data on which pins/products are reprinted and do well on Pinterest.

To find out, I use a few tools to gather information:

  • Pinterest stats
  • Google stats
  • Tailwind Pin Inspector

I like to put ad revenue behind the anchors I know are starting to do well in search and reloading. I play ads in 4 weeks cycles on Pinterest as it is such a long-term platform. Anything short and Pinterest does not have time to do what it has to do to display your Promoted PIN.

Pinterest is always green – which means your pins are forever (and that’s one of the best things about it)!

When you cut a product, make sure you set the redirect to your website (not Pinterest) so that the specific URL goes to that category/product group.

The last thing you want a buyer to do is come to the 404 page or your regular home page when they are ready to buy!
